Who can play

The ANU Women's Soccer Club is open to all women - we welcome all levels from beginner to advanced. Through training led by knowledgeable coaches, the ANUWSC can teach you all you need to know from how to kick a ball and fine tuning your dribbling skills to rules and strategies of the game. The club is a great way to meet new people while improving your fitness at a level you feel comfortable. ANUWSC revolves around an ethos of enjoyment through learning and playing the game of soccer.

Registration

Registration occurs during March each year. Due to the popularity of the club, the 2004 membership was restricted to 134 members. It is expected that the 2005 membership will be similarly limited. However, as the club plans to field a Premiership team this season, the number of places will be expanded slightly to accomodate this team. Places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

Fees and forms are due by mid March if you would like to play the first pre-season match. The price of joining is dependent on whether you are an ANU student. If you are not an ANU student, you must first join the ANU Sports Union before you are able to join ANUWSC. Follow the link to the ANU Sport and Recreation Association from the links page for more information.

ANUWSC Fees for 2004

Students: approximately $75*
Non Students: approximately $115* (this does not include the cost of joining the ANU Sports Union)
Late penalties: approximately $15 (applicable from the announced close date of registration)

* Please note these prices are an indication only and are subject to change until finalised by the club.

Refunds: can be arranged through the club treasurer Emma Waters up until team nominations are registered with Women’s Soccer Canberra.

Uniform

Match jerseys are provided by the club. You will however need to purchase-

  • Royal blue shorts
  • Shinpads
  • Soccer boots

Each year the club encourages newcomers not to purchase the required uniform until they have attended a couple of the pre-season training sessions, which commence in February each year. Once you have decided to join the club, you need to purchase the uniform listed above in time for the first pre-season match. Wearing shinpads and socks is compulsory at all games.

Training and Match Times

Training for the 2005 season commenced in early February and is held from 6 PM every Tuesday and Thursday on Willows Oval, ANU.

Games are held on Sunday between the hours of 9:30AM and 2:45PM. The location of matches varies. Kick off times and field information can be found on the ANUWSC home page.
