Trans-Tasman University Rowing Test Series

The title: Many people are unclear as to what this is actually about, not least the participants. Basically three races of undetermined length lent some structure to an otherwise decadent week of purposeless wandering around Sydney. The racing involved Australian university crews racing those of New Zealand in four events, the mens and womens 8+, the womens LW 4X and the mens lightweight 4- which was from ANU. Tom Watkins explains; "We borrowed a boat from Sydney rowing club on Monday, rowed it round to Lane Cove and then went to a Bakery. The next day we raced and won by about 2 lengths over a winding course nearly four kilometers long. Actually I can't remember anything after that..

The Kryptonites were interviewed but declined to comment

We enjoyed a day off racing with various festivities in Sydney bakeries, firestations and bowling clubs:

The second race was a five km swing down the picturesque Nepean river, most of which Coombes spent humming the Spanish Harlem and despite this we managed to clinch the series by about three lengths.

The last race was a relatively short 2000m affair on Penrith Lakes, where the P stands for Penrith. We won this too.

Much Love Neville
