Recycling on campus
There are paper recycling bins and re-use boxes in most computer labs. The Environment Collective has initiated an informal paper re-use system in the computer labs; one-sided paper collected from them will be collected and made into lecture pads, available through the Collective. If youíre looking for recycled paper, the ACT Greens sells it.
If youíre looking for somewhere to recycle plastic, cans, or bottles, there arenít many ways to do it on campus at the moment! 2000 should see campus-wide recycling bins introduced, but, until they are, the easiest way to recycle is to take recyclables home. The food outlets in the ANU Union building do recycle some things "behind the scenes", and in 1999 became one step closer to being green when they started using crockery instead of disposable plates. The only known recycling spot as of this writing is near the dirty dishes trolley in the Asian Bistro. Sometimes there are buckets of plastic bottles here that the extremely dedicated recycler can search out and contribute to.
