Ben Martin, an International Master from NZ, gave a simultaneous display as part of the 1998 ANU Chess Festival in Garema Place, Civic. In the background is the newly built Garema Court Building with the clock showing 2:16.

This is where we used to play, upstairs in the union, near the Asian Bistro. From here we could listen to our rivals the Magic Club shout "My Vampire is Sucking Yours!", or "My mage just lost 25 hitpoints" etc... If we assigned hitpoints to our chess pieces and changed their names to characters out of Lord of the Rings we wouldn't be far off assimilating with this annoyingly popular club. *shudder* bistro

We hold casual chess on Fridays at around midday on the blue tables outside the bar. The ANU Chess Club is undoubtably the most active campus chess club in the country. Plenty of hard work and dedication goes into organising the club. blue tables
